The Gyrotonic Expansion System®, created by Julian Horvath, is a unique system of exercise and movements that simultaneously stretches and strengthens the body with minimal effort, while increasing range of motion and developing coordination. The “System” is taught on a variety of specially designed pieces of equipment built around the human body to create total freedom in movement. It emphasizes multiple joint articulation without compression, thus strengthening each ligament and attachment. The motion patterns are natural, turbulence free and pure.
Gyrokinesis® is the methodology that forms the basis for the exercises on the Gyrotonic Expansion System® equipment. It is commonly described as yoga in motion. Gentle stretching, twisting, and bending movements are done in a rhythmic and fluid manner while standing, sitting on a low stool or on a mat. Gyrokinesis® can be taught as a private or for a group of no more than four students in our studio.
