Pilates Exercise of Aspen Pilates Aspen

The Pilates Method (also known as Contrology) was created in the early 20th century by Joseph H. Pilates. It is an exercise technique that incorporates spring-resistant equipment & body weight, to tone, strengthen and stretch the body. It requires the complete coordination of mind, body and spirit. Pilates is concerned with the process itself: experiencing all movement from the inside out by focusing on the present moment instead of placing the entire emphasis upon “doing.”

Pilates is a series of exercises that integrates strength, coordination, balance, posture, breath, and flexibility. The "Method" tones and strengthens the whole body while focusing on proper alignment, increasing range of motion and flexibility without putting undue stress on the joints. Pilates develops strong abdominal and postural muscles to support the skeletal system and act as the “powerhouse “ of the body. It was designed to empower people to be in control of their own health and well-being.
