Pilates

The Pilates Method (also known as Contrology) was created in the early 20th century by Joseph H. Pilates. It is an exercise technique that incorporates spring resistant equipment & body weight to tone, strengthen and stretch the body. It requires the complete coordination of body, mind and spirit. It’s concern is the process itself:Pilates experiencing all movement from the inside out by focusing on the present moment instead of placing the entire emphasis upon “doing.” Pilates is a series of exercises which integrates strength, coordination, balance, posture, breath, and flexibility. The Method tones and strengthens the whole body while focusing on proper alignment, increasing range of motion and flexibility without putting undue stress on the joints. Pilates develops strong abdominal and postural muscles to support the skeletal system and act as the “powerhouse “ of the body. It was designed to empower people to be in control of their own health and well-being.
